Holy Week Prayer:  A Devotion

“A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Matt. 21:8-9 (NIV)

Dear Jesus,
Sunday we waved palm branches in Your honor. We sang “Hosanna in the highest!” We shouted Your name to the heavens. I want to stay there, Jesus—on the streets with the palm branches, where everyone is cheering for You, hands to the sky.

But this parade doesn’t end on the streets. It’s headed straight to the cross. Soon, the “Hosannas” will be a faint echo. People will cry out, “Crucify him!” You knew that, didn’t you? Even as the palm branches brushed against Your arms, You knew where this road was leading. You had determined from the beginning that You would love us to Your death, so that we could truly be given life.

When You came into Jerusalem, the whole city asked, “Who is this?” Today, I answer with all my heart: You are my Savior and Lord. You are my Friend and my Redeemer and the reason my life has meaning. You are my purpose and my passion and my pathway to peace. You are the one true King.

May You always see my branch waving high for You. May You always hear my voice exalting You above everything else in my life: “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!”

Early Communion Class of 2021

It is with great joy that I share with you and congratulate the five students who completed their Early Communion studies and are now ready to receive the Lord’s Supper in a worthy manner.
This week during Timothy’s Maundy Thursday service at 5:30, our students, along with their immediate family, will commune together for the first time: from left to right, Lily Pierce, Addison Cross, Hannah Hinkle, Cameron Mullins, and Jake Taylor.
Timothy’s annual Early Communion class is offered to students in 5th-8th grade with an attending parent. Our next Early Communion class will be next year during Lent with the goal of Maundy Thursday being when the students’ first experience in receiving the Lord’s Supper.

Men’s Bible Study Starting Thursday, April 15—DREAM BIG

All of us have ambitions and long to do more in this life. But we also have all kinds of distractions, misunderstandings, and assumptions blurring what we need to do to bring our dreams to life. In order to tap into our deepest passions and unleash the purpose God has for us, we must assess our understanding of whom we are and find our truest ambitions. This includes looking at disappointing areas of our lives as well as those we perceive as failures.

Dream Big is a five-week study in exploring your hopes, dreams, ambitions, and the real purpose God has implanted within us. Each session will explore a different aspect of what it means to dream big through the teachings of Bob Goff. There will be an opening question, a brief Bible reading, and then we will watch a short video by Goff on the evening’s topic.

The good stuff, however, comes after the video, when we dig deeper into each topic in a guided small-group time. This makes space to process the message and get practical about what it means in your life. We will discuss your responses, ask questions, and hear more about the dreams that God is revealing in the lives of others.

So, are you ready? Then it’s time to rediscover how to dream big. Dream Big will be co-led by Steve Schild and Pastor Rod. Visit the JourneyMen web page at www.TimothyLutheran.com/Journeymen/ for additional information.

Session 1:  Get Ready to Dream Big
Session 2:  Set Absurd Expectations
Session 3:  Clear the Path
Session 4:  Push Through Setbacks
Session 5:  Land the Plane

Men’s Bible Study—Dream Big
