Ash Wednesday

Timothy begins its Lenten journey tomorrow (Feb. 17) with Ash Wednesday services available, both in-person and online. In-person services, 4 & 5:30pm at RD Mize, will offer Holy Communion and Imposition of Ashes. This year’s theme for Lenten services is the book of Job. The service will be recorded and posted to YouTube later Wednesday evening. We prepare our hearts to journey with Jesus as He journeys to His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave.

In observing COVID guidelines, traditional Lenten Dinners will be observed as Non-Dinner Free-Will Offering opportunities for sponsoring ministries at Timothy. Even though the traditional LWML Ham Dinner will not be available this year, LWML will warmly accept free-will offerings for three designated charitable needs:  Mites, Family of Aspen Deke, and Jacob’s Ladder Pediatric Rehabilitation. Stop by the credenza just outside the sanctuary before or after the services to show your support for these opportunities (or drop off/mail to the church office)! Thank you very much!

Thank You, Timothy!

The collection of Soup(er) Bowl cans of soup was delivered this past Sunday to Welcome Inn residents by Timothy’s own Nanooks of the North (a.k.a., GIVE Commission). Never has there been a colder delivery of food to our friends at Welcome Inn and Welcome Inn Extended Stay hotels!

The extremely grateful residents appreciated the soup, sleeve of crackers, a can opener, and a handout about various local agencies offering help to those who call:  Community Services League, Impact Ministries, Cornerstone Church, Hillcrest Transitional Housing, Salvation Army Crossroads, Steppingstone, and City Union Mission. Youth Ministry Update

All Timothy youth in 6^th-12^th grades and their friends are invited to the Valentine’s Day Party, rescheduled for Feb. 21, from 5-7pm, RD Mize. Please bring a snack to share (individually wrapped, single serve) and a $5 gift to exchange (boys for boys, girls for girls). The party will include a special Bible study as our friend, Gordy, shares how he and Miss Bev share their special, if not unusual, talents of spreading God’s love.

Looking to get involved with a smaller youth group? Two groups are preparing to meet soon: youth bells choir on Sundays and youth drama club on Wednesdays. For bells choir, please contact Ruth at ruthsunderman@gmail.com. For drama club, please contact Ryan at kueckerryan@gmail.com.

Great News from LCEF

Late last week, Timothy learned some great news from Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) to celebrate! The interest adjustment statement from LCEF received late Friday afternoon informed Timothy that its mortgage interest rate is reduced by 0.5% to 3.875%. That translates into an annual interest cost reduction of approximately $31,000! We praise our good and gracious God, from whom all blessings flow!

Children’s Ministry Update

Due to the cancellation of services this past Sunday, the Valentine’s Day family devotion and activity pack will be available through tomorrow, Ash Wednesday. Please visit the table in the lobby after services to grab your family’s take-home activity pack, and feel free to pick up one for a friend or family you’d like to invite to Timothy. Wondering what the kids have learned in FaithRoots on Wednesdays recently? Besides fun, games, and special activities, this past week they learned that “God Gives Gideon Strength” (Judges 6 & 7). Here is what happens . . . Gideon is hiding from his enemies when an angel appears, calls Gideon a mighty hero, and instructs him to go into battle. Although Gideon is weak in his own strength, he takes a large army into battle, but God whittles the army down to a very small one to show it is God’s power that wins the battle. Bible Point: We are strong with God! “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10

Special Voters’ Assembly Meeting Sun., Feb. 21, immediately following the 10am worship service at Wyatt, for the sole purpose of calling a candidate for Children & Youth Minister. Please plan to attend; a quorum of 40 communicant members is required to conduct business.

Serving the Community Any ideas picking up steam out there for serving the community from April through the end of 2021? GIVE Commission is eager to partner with individuals, families, small groups, and various ministries to fulfill its goal of accomplishing a total of six projects during the year, the first two occurring at Welcome Inn this past Sunday and the March 10 Journey to the Cross collection of free-will offerings for purchasing Walmart & Target gift cards for local people in need.
