As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

THEME: “Pass the Cup!”

When Jesus asked James and John if they could drink from His cup, they probably thought that He was offering them a jewel-encrusted goblet, something fit for the second- and third-in-command of a mighty king. We often expect that kind of cushy treatment from God as well. But in reality, Jesus was inviting them to participate in His servant life, a call that He extends to us as well.

FaithRoots | Join the gang this week as they learn about this week’s Bible Event – Jesus reinstates Peter. Jesus is faithful, even when we are not.

Lenten Season Update

The final Lenten service next Wednesday, March 24 (5:30pm) will conclude our journey through the Book of Job. To prepare for the service, here is your homework: “Read Job 38:1-11 and answer these questions: 1) Why do you think God waited so long to answer Job? 2) Job and his friends were curved in on themselves. How do these verses broaden their horizon? How do they impact your perspective? And 3) How has God spoken to you in your storms?”

Be sure to stop by the Senior Adult Ministry display in the lobby Wednesday evening and/or Sunday, March 28, to support the Lenten Non-Dinner Free-Will Offering for the Adopt-a-Family project at Christmas. Thanks for your support of Timothy’s various ministries. After Easter, look for a summary of all generosity shown during the entire Lenten season for all of the free-will offerings.

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services will occur at 4 & 5:30pm at RD Mize (5:30 will be livestreamed). Communion will be celebrated on Maundy Thursday. Drive-Thru Communion will be available at the RD Mize Worship Center entrance from 6:30-7pm after the second service on Maundy Thursday. Easter Sunday services will be at 9 & 11am at RD Mize and 10am at Wyatt.

Worshippers at the Maundy Thursday 5:30pm service will enjoy a youth hand bell choir performance as well as rejoice with the Early Communion Instruction Class and their families as they partake of Holy Communion with their families for the first time. Both Maundy Thursday services will be enhanced by skits performed by Timothy’s youth. The hand bell choir will also perform in both RD Mize Easter Sunday services. He Is Risen!

Being a Disciple of Jesus Starts With Being in God’s Word

The Bible tells us, “The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God’s Word is alive, giving us faith and connects us to be a disciple of Jesus.

If you lack being in God’s Word, we invite you to grow in your relationship with God by reading His Word regularly. Take time to see the wonders of His work as God leads us to an everlasting hope. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God”  2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

As we enter the spring season, it is easy to become distracted. God’s Word brings us hope and comfort; it is a guide to living our lives to His glory as we seek His will and plan. Make a commitment to grow in your discipleship with Jesus; connect  by joining GodConnect Devotions. Girls on the Run

Girls needs Girls on the Run now more than ever because it gives girls in 3rd-5th and 6th-8th grades a place where they can belong, have fun, and thrive. Girls on the Run establishes livelong healthy habits and instills critical social/emotional skills at a time when girls need it most. The program will provide a safe and interactive space for girls to connect with each other, learn valuable skills such as how to cope when things get difficult and practice positivity, and most importantly, have fun!

As a Girls on the Run host, Timothy’s team will meet at RD Mize on Tuesdays (4:15-5:30pm) and Sundays (3:45-4:45pm) and utilize the track at St. Mary’s Medical for the outdoor activities. First practice is Tuesday, April. 6. An assistant coach for the 3rd-5th grade group still needs an assistant coach; contact Sarah Hinkle (shinkle80@hotmail.com) to sign up and ask questions. The number of participants will be limited this year to ensure social distancing, so interested girls should sign up ASAP. Scholarships are readily available on the GOTR participant’s application. The culminating 5K run will occur on June 5 in conjunction with Timothy’s Live Well Community Fair at Wyatt Campus
