As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

We live in a world that is broken and groaning. We see evidence of the brokenness all around us and it’s not hard to hear it when the world groans. We groan with it, recognizing how wrong the world can be at times. Thankfully, though, we look forward to a day when those groans will be met with ultimate grace, when Jesus returns in glory with our full salvation. And that salvation is not just for us, but for the entire world and the pain it is in.
Join the FaithRoot’s gang this week as they teach the children their take home point “JOIN GOD’S FAMILY – BE KIND TO OTHERS” through the Bible Event. This week we learn about Lydia. We thank God for those who help us see Jesus. Albie, Gordy, Megan, Miriam and King Rodnae are ready to share this amazing story.

Prayers Needed

Timothy’s new Hillcrest apartment resident, Vonzell, was forced to move from one of the units that was destroyed in a recent fire. All his belongings were lost, including his ID, which he had just received to start looking for a job. Hillcrest is working with him to get a new ID so the job hunt can continue. Please keep Vonzell in your prayers that he would find a job. If you would like to provide a card of encouragement, you can leave it with Nancy Nowiszewski, Timothy’s Care Minister, in the church office.

Next Generation Study Update

The Next Generation Steering Committee looks forward to finally sharing results of the congregational survey, so please be sure to mark your calendars to participate. As a reminder, it will be held on July 29, 2020, at 6:30pm at the Wyatt Auditorium. Social distancing, wearing masks, and signing in upon entering the building will be followed. For those unable to attend in person, online opportunities to learn the information will be available. Look for details about that next week.

A PowerPoint presentation will explain the survey results, which will also be explained in the summary report available to attendees at the end of the meeting for further review. The summary report will also be posted on Timothy’s website on July 30.

Thank you

Timothy received the following thank-you message in a card from the Kansas City Bible Church this week as they were overjoyed to benefit from our clearance sale. To God Be the Glory!

To those at Timothy Lutheran Ministries,

From all of us at Kansas City Bible Church—THANK YOU!! We are so grateful

for your generosity and thoughtfulness. We love our beautiful new piano.

Rest assured it is being used to praise the Lord. 😊 Please convey to your
congregation that this was a huge answer to prayer and above and beyond
what we were imagining.
Once again, Thank You!

A Note from Timothy’s Treasurer

It is no news to you that in mid-March this year, Timothy’s church services and ECC classes were stopped due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Timothy’s leadership was concerned how these developments may affect church finances. This was breaking new ground; none of us had experienced a pandemic, much less knew how it may financially affect the church.

In mid-March, I completed estimates of general contributions for March through May which indicated that we needed to prepare for a potential reduction of over $200,000 in contributions for this period, about 52% of budgeted values. However, we were again reminded that putting limits on God’s grace is futile because the actual general contributions for this period were about 91% of budget! In addition, a comparison of total giving this year as of May 31 to last year at the same date shows that giving as a percent of budget is essentially the same, about 87% of budget! Praise God!

In addition, your continued support of Timothy’s 2020 First Fruits is drawing closer and closer to the 2020 goal of $208,733. As of July 12, gifts total $198,148, only about $10,000 from our 2020 goal! Praise God and thank you very much!

All of this is great news, showing a positive response by Timothy members during a difficult time. Although the pandemic seems to be far from over, your continued financial support for Timothy’s ministries is greatly appreciated and needed. Timothy’s leadership wants to express our praise to God for your generous gifts and a huge “Thank You” as we always strive to touch lives for Christ at Timothy!

Timothy Lutheran School Playground Fundraiser Update

This opportunity is “off and running” so that TLS kids can be “off and running” in these playgrounds very soon! Thanks to all who have generously donated toward the total of $4,548.00, as of July 14! Very soon, the area will be prepared for the construction of a new playground for K-8 on the west side of the west parking lot and the existing playground refurbished for the pre-schoolers. As much playground equipment as possible from the RD Mize playground will be moved to Wyatt.

This week, Timothy received a touching note in the mail from an anonymous youngster who will hopefully enjoy fun times on the completed playground soon (right).  Inside the card was a donation of $1.00 to accompany the touching, heart-warming message and artwork. Again, to God be the glory, and praise God for our children!
