As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

THEME: Tension
In the epistle reading, we catch a hint of the tension that Christians live in. We are stuck between the firstfruits of Christ’s resurrection and the coming day of resurrection. We watch as the world seems to crumble around us and we feel the tension within us growing. So we look forward to the coming Day with hope, longing for the day when Christ will have everything put under His feet, a metaphor that points to a day when everything will be made right.
God calls us to help with His rescue – TRUST GOD! Join us this week as the gang shares the Bible Event of Moses and the Burning Bush.

Stephen Leader Commissioning

This Sunday at the RD Mize 9am service, Roxanne Kerwood will be commissioned as a Stephen Leader.  Pictured at right  (2nd row, 2nd from left) with others who recently completed the Stephen Ministry Leader’s Training Course via Zoom, she will now join Timothy’s Stephen Ministry leadership team as a lay leader. We praise God for Roxanne’s gifts and talents to touch lives for Christ through this impactful ministry and pray God’s blessings to both Roxanne and all served through Stephen Ministry.

TLS Playgrounds Ready for Action

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Over the past six months, many people joined efforts at many different levels to bring this project to fruition, and now the children are ready to play! Last Saturday, over 70 people assembled at Wyatt to spread mulch on both playgrounds. From the beginning planning stages to the final installation, God led many to prayerfully support this project by volunteering time and labor and through significant fundraising donations. To God be the glory!

Youth Ministry Updates

Last Sunday, Timothy’s youth gathered to assemble “finals kits” to send to some of Timothy’s college students. Thanks to all who donated items such as face masks, sanitizers, granola bars, candy, bookmarks, post-it notes, and Bible verses to fill 12 kits. The kits were mailed this week as a reminder to Timothy’s college students that their church family back home is praying for them.

Following the work party to assemble the finals kits, Timothy’s youth and their families assembled for a movie night, complete with concession stand snacks such as popcorn, pizza, and soda, to raise money for their next service project and event:  Christmas cards and a Christmas party on Dec. 18,

Next Generation

“See, I am doing a new thing!” Isaiah 43:19

Conversations continue among Timothy congregation and leadership about the direction in which God may be leading His ministry here in Blue Springs and surrounding areas. As with many areas in these days of COVID, some wonder if this is the right time to move forward with plans to consolidate to one campus. Leadership feels that the pandemic should not deter us from planning for the future. Delaying a decision further will cripple any project, and leadership understands the risk of losing support and/or members due to inaction.

The current plan makes it clear that the investment be 100% funded before breaking ground anywhere. No additional debt will be incurred.

Regardless of the new normal, leadership understands that some will desire in-person worship attendance and others will wish to continue worshipping remotely for many different reasons. Members have indicated their preferences in surveys from 2015 and 2020. Will these preferences change, due to COVID implications, on a new survey? Leadership expects less participation (300 in the 2020 survey) and results reflecting the previous survey results.

Leadership groups (Executive Board, Elected Elders, Next Generation) agree on direction. It is now time to consult professionals to help Timothy determine what is possible and realistic. That information will drive the proposal. At this point, unless restrictions lessen again, it will likely be late spring or early summer before Timothy can host large gatherings, assuming the success of vaccines. In the meantime, ministries will continue at both campuses as space allows for the size of various gatherings.

A capital campaign will be necessary regardless of the direction of the project. Leadership does not support a campaign which asks the congregation to keep things status quo. We pray for God’s direction in moving forward according to His will, and we ask that the congregation keeps this process in your prayers as well.  Please plan to attend the Voters’ Assembly Meeting on Sunday, Dec. 6, for the opportunity to learn updates and share your input. Thank you!
