As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

THEME: Poor Joseph!

CREATIVE TENSION: Poor Joseph-Barsabbas-Justus! A man so unremarkable people felt the need to give him three different names! And when the time came for a new twelfth disciple to be named, he was overlooked yet again. He had the qualifications, but he wasn’t chosen. He might very well have felt discouraged and downcast, but his story is a good reminder that God’s people don’t serve for a pat on the back or an atta-boy. We serve because God calls us to that life. We serve for His glory, not our own.

This week’s Bible Event – Just has the power… The Power To Save Us!

A Tribute to One of God’s Greatest
By Larry Pennington

Below is a tribute to Jim Bush whose visitation and funeral were held at Timothy yesterday.
“I walked into the Fireplace Room at Timothy for the first time in the fall of 1989, and there he was, dressed to the nines. He sprang from his chair, extended his hand, and gave me a firm shake along with, “Welcome! I’m Jim Bush, and this is New Member Orientation. Have a seat!” And so it began, a long friendship of many years of leading me by example in following Christ.

He managed to invite me to every adult class that he led, and it wouldn’t be long before I would follow directly in his footsteps of teaching and leading. I knew from the start that it was not by accident that our paths had crossed. God’s hand was in the midst of this.

My next step? Follow right in his footsteps to our heavenly home with Jesus.

Thank you, Jim, good and faithful servant, for listening and obeying the Lord for so many years.
In Jesus’ name,

A Message from the Hochgrebes

“The Hochgrebes would like to thank you for the outpouring of care, concern and prayers after Robin’s most recent hospital stay last weekend when she learned that the breast cancer has spread to her brain. In helping everyone stay up-to-date with how things are going, what our needs are, and how you can be praying, we are opening up Robin’s Caring Bridge account and making the information public. You will find the link below. If you ever lose the link, you should be able to go to Caring Bridge and type in Robin Hochgrebe to find it again.

As you can imagine, it gets very overwhelming with all the personal inquiries about Robin’s health, and we understand it is out of love and care. Therefore, we decided it is best to provide you with up-to-date information so you don’t have to wonder and you can join us in prayer.

Many blessings to you all!
Pastor Ryan and Robin Hochgrebe”

From 5-5:30pm, plan to enjoy outdoor games and then move to Room 505 until 6:30pm for snacks and watching/discussing segments of the video. Parents are encouraged to download the free The Chosen app to follow along weekly with their students.

Current Financial Overview

Thank you, Timothy, for your continued support of its ministries. The past 18 months have seen some unusual scenarios at Timothy, such as adapting to virtual worship and then revising worship schedules and practices as some services resumed, but Timothy’s leadership appreciates your continued financial support and asks for your help in heading off a developing shortfall.

While reviewing recent financial data, the Executive Board determined it advisable to communicate to the congregation a few basic observations concerning a shortfall in general contributions. The general contributions for March 2021 were 90% of the March budget ($110,823 actual compared to $123,150 budgeted). The year-to-date (YTD) as of March 31st actual general contributions are $290,942 versus a budget value of $353,030, signaling $62,088 short of budget YTD.

With the summer months upon us, a historically challenging time in meeting budgeted giving goals, Timothy’s leadership asks that you prayerfully consider ways that you can return to God a portion of what is His and that you feel safe and secure in returning to in-person worship. It is so good to see people return to services! Thank you!

Job Opportunity

Upon Otis Turner’s retirement in July, the position description will change from Communication Services to Technology Services. Applicants may view the Technology Services position description by clicking this link  CLICK HERE or going to the church website. Resumes from members may be emailed to Diane Mayfield ( through May 28, at which time external resumes will be accepted until June 11, 2021. Expected date to start training is July 6, 2021. It is a full-time, 40-hr/week position, with varying hours dependent upon the needs of the church and school.

As of today, May 14, the Jackson County Health Department is complying with the CDC directive that fully vaccinated people are not required to wear a mask, indoors or outdoors. Timothy will follow this update but continue to tape pews in the two side sections of the sanctuary and space chairs in the auditorium for at least this Sunday as well as provide attendance slips and offering baskets at the entrance tables. Watch for additional former practices to resume during the next few weeks or summer months.

Please continue to respect fellow worshippers’ comfort levels for social distancing and wearing masks. We look forward to seeing you in worship as you feel comfortable in returning!
