As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

THEME: God’s Foolishness

CREATIVE TENSION: People don’t like to be called foolish. One ’80s icon even pitied the fools. And yet Paul tells us that God is all about foolishness. That’s because God is all about flipping the world on its head. What He sees as wise is often out-of-step with the rest of the world and doesn’t seem to work. But God, in His foolishness, continues to transform the world through His grace.

Join the gang this week as we begin taking the Easter journey to Jerusalem, the Cross, and Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus prepares to give his life for us.

Lenten Season Updates

The Wednesday Lenten service continues each Wednesday at 5:30pm at RD Mize as we journey through the Book of Job. Please remember that the service is livestreamed on FaceBook and recorded and posted on YouTube. Here is our homework for next Wed, Mar. 10: “Read Job 4:1-14 and answer these questions: 1) It is part of our sinful nature to look for hope in all the wrong places. How do you self-medicate when you are hurting? 2) Why does Job say that there is hope for a tree? And 3) If there is hope for a tree, then there is hope for me! What does this look like in your life?” (Please be sure this is the homework you picked up, as a few homework sheets for last week (Chapter 3) were mistakenly available after the service.)

The Lenten Non-Dinner Free-Will Offering will support the GIVE Commission’s goal to collect donations for purchasing gift cards for local people in need. Your donations are always appreciated, so stop by the table in the lobby before or after the service (or drop off/mail your donations at the front desk during the week). Thank you!

Pastor Hochgrebe and Family Visit Timothy

Timothy welcomed Pastor Ryan Hochgrebe and his family this week. He observed children and youth activities Wednesday evening at RD Mize. On Thursday and Friday, he met with staff at both campuses, observed TLS activities, and met with reps from Board of Elected Elders and Executive Board. The congregation is invited to a “meet-and-greet” opportunity in the Wyatt Auditorium this Sunday, Mar. 7, from 11:30am-12:30pm. Please continue to keep this divine call process in your prayers.

He Is Risen Easter Event

Families are encouraged to attend Timothy’s 2021 version of the Children’s Ministry Annual Easter Egg Hunt! Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 27, from 2-4pm, at Wyatt Campus (rain day is March 28, same time).

This year, outdoor activities for the entire family, such as Giant Connect 4, Frisbee toss, sidewalk chalk drawing, individual crafts, Resurrection eggs, and other yard games, will accompany egg hunts throughout the afternoon, divided into age categories. So don’t forget to bring your Easter basket (and your face mask!) As an additional treat, Rolling in the Dough KC will be on hand with a dessert truck to serve delicious scoops of cookie dough! Please remember that wearing mask

Looking for a way to help this year? Children’s Ministry leaders are accepting donations of Easter candy or Easter prizes all in anticipation of sharing the reason to celebrate Easter: HE IS RISEN! (Donations may be dropped off in the lobby at each campus before March 21. Thank you!)

Timothy Lutheran School Update

Question:  What happens when you combine TLS teachers and staff, parents, supporters, student artwork, great food, better conversation, items for bid, and KC Wolf?
Answer:  You get the 5th Annual TLS Scholarship Fund Auction!!

On Saturday, Feb. 20, 100 hundred people gathered at the Hilton Garden Inn in Independence for a fabulous night of fellowship, fundraising, and celebration. The TLS Auction was an unexpected and amazing success! There was an energy in the air that transcended all of the challenges of the year. With the help and encouragement of KC Wolf, we raised a new all-time record of over $31,000 for the TLS Scholarship Fund! This is such a blessing; our hearts are full. We cannot thank you, our supporters, enough. A special thank-you to Aimee Gorrow, TLS Auction Chair, and all of her volunteers, who spent countless hours making this night possible.
You can be assured that this scholarship money will be needed and used for our students. We are again blessed in that, currently with our early enrollment opportunity for our families, 81 students are already re-enrolled for 2021-2022! That is more than a 90% return rate! While we get ready to graduate our 8th graders, we look forward to welcoming new incoming students next year.

Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.  Deuteronomy 15:10
