As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

WE ARE… CONNECTED. We Americans love to pride ourselves on our rugged individualism. We like to say that we are strong and capable, an island unto ourselves. We want to be fierce and independent. But Christ calls us to a different sort of life. If we are the Church, then we are connected, first and foremost to Him and then also to one another. We work together, the same way that a body does, supporting one another and helping one another through life. The life of the Church is one of interconnectedness, powered by the love that flows to us from Christ.

ECC Teacher Appreciation Parade

At 11am today, the RD Mize ECC Teacher Appreciation Parade filled the parking lot with teachers and students who long to be together again! It was SO good to see the teachers and students who could attend. Families of students from the full-time, 12-month “Blue Hallway” and part-time, 9-month “Orange Hallway” enthusiastically waved and said “Hi! We Miss You!” to our teachers. Thank you to everyone who made the day special!

A similar parade will occur at the Wyatt parking lot this Saturday at 11am. You are welcome to join that celebration!

Welcome Inn Again Appreciates Groceries

Yesterday, Timothy volunteers took groceries and household items to the residents of Welcome Inn for another visit this spring. Special thanks to Pam Lund, Sandy Galvin, Chris Hruska, Amy & Abby Borchers, and Rick Little, who helped Nancy distribute groceries to 30 family units/rooms. Everyone was very appreciative and generous with heartfelt thank-you’s!

The next Welcome Inn visit will be Wednesday, May 20, from 11am-1pm. Please contact Nancy Nowiszewski at 228.5300 ext. 8042 or nancyn@timothylutheran.com if you can help.

If you can provide grocery donations, the most needed items are microwavable cups of mac & cheese, canned peas or corn, packets of tuna, boxes of  cereal, applesauce or fruit cups, loaves of bread, canned soup (ready to eat), peanut butter, club crackers, cookies (any kind), toilet paper, and facial tissue (Kleenex). Please drop off between now and May 15 (8:30am-4:30pm) at RD Mize in the black receptacle outside the office doors.
Your generosity is very much appreciated as we Touch Lives for Christ in the community.

“Drive-By- and- Drop-Off” Grocery Drive for
Jesu el Buen

Gary Flandermeyer reports that Pastor Frank Eberhart at Jesu el Buen in Kansas City, MO, really looks forward to Timothy’s generous donations from our next “Drive-By-and-Drop-Off” grocery drive. Suggestions for most-needed donations include canned soups, canned vegetables, canned fruit, cereal, pasta, pasta sauces, and bottles of hand soap, if available. Their food pantry currently serves over 100 families each week, so whatever we can provide will be much appreciated.

Mark your calendars for Sat., May 30, 10am-noon, parking lots of both campuses to fill the trucks! Supporting our friends with groceries is a much-appreciated act of kindness and care. To God be the glory! Thank you!

Timothy’s Tithes Impact Lives

Timothy supports several organizations and ministries through its 10% tithe of general contributions. During this COVID-19 pandemic, as a response to reduced contributions, Timothy continues to send tithes at 6.9% to eight different ministries, one of which is Mother’s Refuge, a home for pregnant young women and babies in Independence, MO. It will warm your heart to read this letter and know that a portion of your contributions is Touching Lives for Christ. Thank you!

March 31, 2020
Dear Friends,

Mother’s Refuge is especially thankful for your generosity during this uncertain time. Your gift is helping us continue to provide shelter and safe refuge to homeless young moms and their babies who need us more than ever.

During the COVID-19 ‘Stay at Home’ order, our young mothers have been embracing the family they have in each other and are learning how to ‘do life’ a little bit differently. For their safety, we have cancelled all volunteers, outside visitors, and outings for the time being. School work is being completed in our newly renovated computer lab. Our young moms are enjoying the slower pace of life right now, crafting their hearts out and soaking in all of the baby snuggles.

In the midst of the quarantine, one of our sweet young moms welcomed her new baby girl into the world. Juliette was born on March 19th, weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz. with BEAUTIFUL, thick, dark hair and the sweetest features you have ever seen! Her mom is adjusting well and they are both back at home, safe and sound.

Your support matters to us and we consider you family here at Mother’s Refuge. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this pandemic our nation is experiencing. THANK YOU for thinking of others during this time. Truthfully, we couldn’t do this without you.

Sincerely Grateful,
Angel McDonald
Executive Director

Added note in Angel’s handwriting: “You are all in our prayers! We are doing our best to keep everyone safe and delivering needed food/supplies to moms in our Aftercare program. Thank you again!!!”
