As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

WE ARE… CONNECTED. Nowadays, the term “follower” has taken on some unique meanings. It could mean “follow” as in Facebook or Instagram, where we occasionally see updates about how someone else’s life is. Or it could be taken as more of an insult, where someone doesn’t have the willpower or strength to make decisions on their own and simply and blindly follows someone else’s lead. But we are called to be Christ Followers. He, as our Good Shepherd, calls to us as His flock to follow where He leads, to hear His voice, to imitate His life and love. Sometimes that journey will take us through shadowy valleys, but ultimately, we know that when we follow our Good Shepherd, He is the one who blazes the trail and gives us the strength to walk the path.

Encouraging News

In addition to our Timothy family stepping up to support people in the community with everyday needs, such as groceries and household items, financial support has also been strong! Thank you, Timothy!

Like many others in our community and around the world in these uncertain times, Timothy’s Executive Board prepared for significant negative impacts to Timothy’s finances as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic because all in-person church services, school programs, and activities halted mid-March.

In late March, Timothy’s treasurer, Gary Flandermeyer, forecasted a potential financial impact of 66% of budgeted general contributions for March, 42% of budget in April (due to Holy Week and Easter services), and 50% in May. However, actual contributions were 93% of budget for March and 78% of budget in April!! As of April 30, year-to-date (YTD) general contributions were approximately 82% of budget, which, compared to last year at this time, when contributions were approximately 85% of YTD budget—not a significant difference! Considering we are in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, this news is exciting!

In addition, as of the end of April, capital campaign donations exceeded their YTD budget by 6%. As of May 10, First Fruits total for 2020 is $187,948.00. This corresponds to 90% of the 2020 goal of $208,733.00. This news is also exciting!

Praise be to God and a huge THANK YOU to everyone in our Timothy family who continues to support Timothy’s ministries in so many ways through these uncertain times! We are truly touching lives for Christ!

Since we do not know how church ministries, operations and finances will be affected by COVID-19 in the coming months, we ask for your continued prayers and support. Timothy’s leadership will continue to closely monitor events and keep you informed. We greatly appreciate your generosity in bringing us to this point!

If you want to view full, detailed financial reports for the months of February and March 2020, go to Timothy’s website ( and click on “Resources/Church Manuals, Reports and Positions” directory.

Timothy Lutheran School Parade

What do you do when it has been 7 weeks since you have seen your students?
You have a parade! And that we did!

Last Saturday, from 11am-noon, the Timothy Lutheran School family enjoyed a parade of cars circling the Timothy Lutheran School parking lot. Over 40 families drove through the parking lot, waving to our teachers and staff who decorated their cars and held up signs of encouragement. We reminded our families and students that, even though we are not together in the school building, we are in this together.

I enjoyed greeting each car with a bag of LaMars donuts, a TLS favorite! While we could not gather in a room and greet each other with hugs and fist bumps, we shared smiles, laughs, waves and the familiar site of each other. The energy was strong! We felt that connection. That was God! That was God’s love pouring out over us, between us, and within us. That was God reminding us that we are covered in His grace and protection.

As we quickly approach the end of this school year with a continued uncertainty of the future, there is one thing of which I am certain–the Spirit is strong within us. Together, we will continue to move forward and move forward well. There is a great energy when we gather, even if we gather 6 feet apart. Keep that energy alive within you. It is a great blessing.

No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and His love is made complete in us. This is how we know that we live in Him and He in us; He has given us of His Spirit. 1 John 4:12-13
