As We Gather For Worship This Weekend

We know what it is to be thirsty. After a hot day’s work, we long to drink deeply of water and refresh our bodies. Our souls can grow thirsty and weary as well, something we’ve become all too aware of as we’ve taken an unintentional fast from the Lord’s Supper. But today, God calls us back to the altar to receive Jesus’ body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine so that our souls can be refreshed and love can overflow within us.
Join the gang this weekend as they discover what God’s Word has to teach us. This week’s Bible event takes us back to Cain and Abel. We learn to not let sin be a master over our lives. This week’s take-home point:  Don’t Let Sin Be Your Master – Follow God.

Next Generation Update

As a follow-up to yesterday’s congregational email, please visit the Next Generation link on Timothy’s website NOW to complete a simple volunteer form for one of the Next Generation Task Force groups. We need your expertise and interest in serving as we move forward with next steps in determining Timothy’s future. The identified task force groups to date are Review of Timothy’s 2020 Vision, Ministry Review, Site & Space Planning (short- and long-term), Budgeting, Capital Campaign, Site-to-Site Move, Real Estate, Construction, and Security & Technology. Thank you!

Prayer Shawls Provide Comfort

Timothy’s Prayer Shawl ministry is thriving during these challenging pandemic times. If you know of anyone needing to be enveloped with the love of Jesus by a shawl crocheted or knitted by Timothy’s prayer shawl volunteers, do not hesitate to choose one from the LWML closet in the RD Mize coat room (top two shelves). Many thanks to Lucy Johnson, Kathy Croson, Donna Nissen, Kathy Barnett, and Sherry Osiek who find joy and fulfillment in making the shawls. If you would like to join the group, contact Lucy Johnson (816.616.6901 or Typically, they admire each other’s handiwork and company on the second Saturday of each month from 9-11am at the RD Mize Campus.

Recently, a friend of a Timothy member awaiting an upcoming open heart surgery expressed her appreciation for a prayer shawl given to her this week: “It is beautiful and I will cherish it and the prayers and meaning behind it.”  What a great ministry provided by our faithful prayer shawl warriors who knit, crochet, and pray for those they may not even know!

“Drive-By-And-Drop-Off” Grocery Collection

Don’t forget to drop off groceries for Hillcrest Transitional Housing next Saturday, Aug. 8, between 10am and noon at both campuses. The reported shortages include paper towels; toilet paper; hand soap; body wash; shampoo; box dinners (Hamburger Helper, Tuna Helper, etc); canned tuna; Spaghetii-O’s & Ravioli-O’s for kids; ketchup; mayo; and syrup. Thank you very much!

TLS Playground Update

During the past week, plans and bids for new equipment, picnic tables, and shading were gathered and authorized. The usable RD Mize equipment is scheduled to move to Wyatt during the week of Aug. 10. The new fence for the existing playground refurbished for the pre-school students will be installed in August as well. The new equipment chosen for both playgrounds will arrive approximately mid-September. Thank you to everyone for continuing to support this project, which runs through the end of August! The little squares on the Rams grid are filling up!

Thank you to all who shared best wishes on my retirement from full-time ministry. I am thankful to be able to return on a part-time basis beginning Aug. 31, and I look forward to the plans God has for our church as we move forward. Nancy Nowiszewski, Care Minister
