As We Gather for Worship This Weekend
Take 10: How did you SEE God at work in your life this week?”

Sometimes it’s difficult to see how God is already at work around us. Circumstances in life obscure His action or distract us, getting us to focus on the wrong things. But God has the ability to open our eyes to see how He is at work in our lives already, because Jesus is on the loose and He is already at work. May He open our eyes fully to see how He is working in our relationships and neighbors!

Devotion: The God of All Comfort Remembers

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Emails this past week were difficult. Worship in the R.D. Mize sanctuary was challenging. I remember. All the weddings, funerals, baptisms, children’s programs. But God has a plan. I remember, through all the challenges during my faith walk, God has always been there and brought me through with the support of my Timothy faith family. I know He will continue His faithfulness.

Moving forward, there will be times and people who need our comfort. Let’s sit in these words from 2 Corinthians. The Father of mercies and the God of all comfort is with us. He has not forgotten us, and as we are comforted by Him, may we offer the same tenderness to others. Preparing to rejoin our faith family and build a new place of worship is frightening and exciting. Pray for our leaders during this challenging time of transition.

Consolidation  Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

To God Be the Glory! The speed with which He is moving through His servants at both Timothy and Harvest Baptist is incredible. God is leading Timothy forward in our vision of transforming lives through Christ at one campus as well as keeping the RD Mize Campus as a worship center for another church to share the Good News of Jesus!

After Timothy’s letter to the congregation last Thursday, Timothy’s Next Generation Real Estate Task Force suggested some revisions to the Letter of Intent from Harvest Baptist to purchase the RD Mize Campus at a fair market value of $3,250,000. Leadership at Harvest agreed to the suggested revisions and directed its attorney to incorporate those revisions into the document. By Monday of this week, Timothy’s leadership received the revised Letter of Intent, again reviewed and agreed upon by the Real Estate Task Force. On Tuesday, September 12th, leadership from both churches signed the final draft of the Letter of Intent. The Real Estate Task Force is preparing a final report for the Executive Board, outlining its work over the past six months. It will be shared with the congregation as well. The next step in this process is receiving a contract from Harvest Baptist on or before October 10, with closing on or before December 8, 2023, both of which are agreeable to Harvest. Even after the closing date, Timothy will continue its normal RD Mize ministries through the end of December, including Advent and Christmas services as scheduled.

Plans to address all aspects of moving to one campus at Wyatt are progressing well. The Board of Elders and worship leaders are developing plans for two worship services at Wyatt starting in January. The Executive Board is collaborating with staff and worship leaders for the move to Wyatt as well as investigating options for meeting and storage spaces. Leadership looks forward to sharing all those details as they are finalized.

We continue to trust God in moving forward: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.

We understand that with change comes excitement, anxiety, and grief. We praise and thank God for His guidance throughout this process and ask for the congregation’s continued prayers as this journey moves forward.

To God Be All the Glory!

Serving Him,

Timothy’s Executive Board

News from Missionary Barb Rebentisch

The following letter arrived late last week from Barb Rebentisch. In this photo, she is pictured on the left with her friend Grace.

Dear Saints in Blue Springs,
I am grateful for your partnership in this ministry in Taiwan, even as you do God’s work in reaching people in Missouri. Recently, I have been taking missionaries to doctor appointments and train stations, shopping for large items, further studying the Chinese language, and completing my deaconess classes. I look forward to possibly visiting with you next summer when I am Stateside for serving at home. I praise God for you!
God’s peace,
Barb Rebentisch
