On Mission with Jesus
On Mission with Jesus: A Journey Through the Book of Acts
The Book of Acts is a thrilling chronicle of the early church's explosive growth. It's a story of ordinary people empowered by the Holy Spirit to do extraordinary things. As we embark on this 13-week journey through Acts, we'll witness the birth of a movement that would change the world.
But Acts isn't just history; it's a picture of how the Spirit has worked within the church then and now. We'll see how the early believers faced challenges, built community, and shared the gospel with boldness. These same challenges and opportunities exist for us today.
By following a dedicated reading plan, we'll delve deeper into the inspiring narratives of Peter, Paul, and countless others. We'll explore how the Holy Spirit equipped them and how He can empower us. As we journey together, we'll discover practical ways to apply these ancient truths to our lives and become more effective witnesses in transforming lives through Christ.
To enhance your experience, we encourage you to read through the Book of Acts alongside our sermon series. Each week, we'll provide specific reading assignments in our weekly Prepare for Worship email to guide your study.
Let's be inspired by the courage and faith of these pioneers. Together, we can ignite a fresh wave of God's Kingdom on earth. Are you ready to step into your role in this epic story? The series begins on Sunday, September 1.
Reading for this week: Chapters 1-2.

Staff Highlight Corner
Per Ken Holland, "Taking a moment to reflect on how blessed we are to have such a supportive community embracing Timothy Lutheran School is an enjoyable pause in my day. While I have collectively raised up our teaching staff, I would like to introduce you to the first teacher I hired at Timothy Lutheran School: Kelly Butz. Kelly is one of our Early Childhood Preschool Teachers."
Kelly is a beloved colleague and teacher. Her colleagues describe her as, “…a kind, giving and patient teacher.” “She automatically makes each child feel like he or she is the most important person in the room.” “She truly is a good listener.”
Thank you, Kelly Butz, for being the colleague, educator, and friend that you are. Timothy Lutheran School is proud to call you one of our own!

Call Committee Update
Timothy’s Call Committee met on Aug. 27. The final draft of the new Senior Pastor position description was approved and referred to the Executive Board for its review and to the Board of Executive Elders for its approval. Prior to the meeting, Call Committee members individually ranked the 15 candidates and submitted their rankings for a composite score of all rankings. From that process, the Committee selected its top six candidates to interview soon, based on solidarity and clear choice to meet Timothy’s needs. Virtual interviews are scheduled to start the week of Sept. 9, depending upon candidates’ availability. The next Call Committee meeting will be Sept. 3 to summarize and organize interview questions to meet Timothy’s needs as derived from the recent congregational survey as well as the candidates’ experiences and qualifications.
Please continue to keep the Call Committee and call process in your prayers as we seek to find the man God has already chosen as Timothy’s next senior pastor. Thank you!

Church Worker Tithe Thank You
Dear Timothy Lutheran Church,
This past semester, I completed my first systematic theology class as part of my theological training, focusing on God's character and creation. I must admit that my previous understanding of God’s character often led to abstract and unhelpful thoughts. This class really opened my eyes to a deeper level of understanding. Next, I will be moving on to Systematic Theology 2, where I will delve deeper into the study of Christ and the Church. I am excited to continue this journey and am deeply grateful for your ongoing financial support.
In Him,
Meg B

ALOHA Kurt and Kelly Burns!
As many of you are aware, Kurt and Kelly Burns will be leaving the Blue Springs area and heading to the beautiful island of Hawaii! We will definitely miss them and all they do for Timothy.
Kurt’s last Sunday with us will be September 1st.
We pray God’s Blessings upon them as they begin this new journey!

LWML Society Meeting Success
LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Jessy and Thomas visited Timothy's LWML Society meeting last weekend. The trained Golden Retrievers, members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia, serve as ambassadors for Christ with their calming nature and skills as they interact with humans in need. It was a joy to have these loving animals share their morning with the group and help us understand how their mannerisms and compassion are able to bring relief, some joy, and love to those who are hurting from disasters, crises, or illness/death of a loved one in our communities.
