From Executive Board—Diane Mayfield, Substitute Secretary
Executive Board met on Nov. 12 with Ben Ryan, Gary Flandermeyer, Diane Mayfield, Carol Cronkhite, Sandy Bahrenburg and Pastor John attending. Ben opened the meeting with prayer.

The board set the agenda for the Dec. 9 Annual Voters’ Meeting:  renewing housing allowance for called staff; report from Nominating Committee; election of lay leaders; distribution of packet of Annual Reports from ministry staff, commissions, boards and committees; report from Call Committee to include approval of proposed Senior Pastor Position Description; and adoption of proposed 2019 budget.

The board approved the appointment of Pastor John as Interim Senior Pastor. Ben will write a letter to confirm that appointment.

As Nominating Committee chair, Carol provided an update about recruitment of lay leaders to fill open positions in January. When the search is completed, the Committee will announce its results on or before November 29, 2018.

Pastor John’s report included the following:

  • GuideOne Insurance Co. will no longer provide liability insurance to Timothy after Dec. 31, 2018. Staff is researching options.
  • The elders will discuss converting contract for Mary Beth Self (Director of ECC) to a call.
  • At the Synodical Convention in summer 2019, Pastor John advocates that Timothy support the following candidates for synodical offices:
  1. President:  David Maier, Tim Klinkenberg
  2. 1st VP:  Scott Sailer, John Denninger
  3. Central Region VP:  Dan May, Scott Seiller
  • First Fruits 2019 will be introduced on Dec. 15-16. Ben, Pastor John and Pastor Rod are formulating the details. Intended start is first weekend in January.

After a brief update from Ben about old business items, the board devoted a significant amount of time to financials and discussion of 2019 budget. The congregation is urged to attend a Congregational Budget Review on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the Sanctuary (R.D. Mize) at 6:30pm to provide feedback about the proposed budget before it is finalized and subsequently submitted to Voters’ Assembly for approval on Dec. 9. The Executive Board will meet again on Wed., Nov. 14, to continue discussion about the budgetary process.

The meeting closed with prayer.
