Grace and peace to you from our Lord and Savior!
This is the first of many messages that you will receive over the next several months to keep you informed and up to date on the call process for our next senior pastor. Once Timothy leaders were notified by Pastor Rich he accepted the call from Messiah Lutheran Church in Minnesota, there have been several meetings and a number of phone calls with the LCMS – Missouri District to start the call process.
The first step in the process is to establish a call committee. An application form, along with criteria information, to be on the call committee was developed and announced to the congregation on the last week-end of June. The deadline to submit an application is July 21st, 2018. At this time, we have received 23 applications. Praise God!
The President of the Congregation, the Director of the Elders, and one associate pastor will review the applicant pool and select eight members to represent the congregation on July 25th, 2018. The leadership candidates from the Executive Board, the Elected Elders, and the School Board have been identified and they, along with the congregational members, will be announced to and commissioned by the congregation on Sunday August 5th, 2018 at the 9:45 am service.
LCMS Missouri District President Hagan, along with our Circuit Visitor, Rev. Scott Lemmermann, met with the leadership core on Saturday July 14th to discuss the tasks involved in the call process. It was a very informative and productive meeting. The three most important take-away items from the President’s presentation are:
- Pray – Morning, Day, and Night
- God already knows who He has called for the position and
- Be Patient – as the process may take 12-18 months.
There will be many opportunities for you, as a member, to be involved and to voice your opinion from completing a congregational survey, to attending congregational town-hall meetings, to attending voters’ assembly meetings. Our prayer is that all members will be actively involved in calling our next senior pastor.
Yours in Christ,
Steve Schild, Director of the Board of Elders
