(Left to right) Emma, Jason, Kim, and Annabel Myers,
Kim has wanted to be a teacher and a mother for as long as she can remember.
“I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to be both! I am able
to be a mom, and teach the Word of the Lord to eager children every day!”
Kim is a 1997 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she
received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. In 2001, she completed
her colloquy classes through Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska. She has
taught 4 ½ years at Messiah Lutheran in Independence, Missouri, two
years at Bethany Lutheran in Overland Park, Kansas, and has begun her fourth
year here at Timothy. She has taught at the first, second, and third, and
fourth grade levels.
Kim was born and raised in Independence, as well as attended grade school
at Messiah. She lives on the east side of Independence with her husband of
9 years, Jason, a crime scene investigator for the Independence Police Department,
her beautiful daughters Emma, who will be 6 in November, and Annabel, who
will 2 in March, and her two cats, Teddi and Tigger. She enjoys spending time
with her family and friends, teaching, playing volleyball, running, doing
arts and crafts, and collecting antiques.
“Teaching about Jesus is a passion of mine, “says Kim. “I
love to see the faces of my students light up with His love when they hear
a Bible story or a devotion that really hits home.” Kim’s goal
is to connect the real world with her classroom and her students’ learning.
“I hope I can help them see Jesus in everything they do and say. Each
one of these children has a God-given talent for something—whether it
be math, writing, drawing, or making others smile! When they leave Timothy
Lutheran School, I hope and pray that they are ready to face the world with
wise minds, always eager to learn more; always ready to make good God-filled
choices; and always ready to glorify God with the blessings He has given.”
